In a small, private ceremony, the high priest prepares our protagonist to take flight into her own personal legend. The crane priest attaches the first wing to her back. One of the priest’s acolytes holds the second wing, while the other provides the protagonist with a key that, when used at the right time and in the right place, can help unlock her aspirations and goals.
In the two upper nooks, prayers are recited, and they transform into a blessing rain that falls over our protagonist. On the walls behind, we see the souls of previous high priests who are in attendance to watch the sacred event.
Says Rusul, “As a mother, I have responsibilities, and those responsibilities have taken me away from my art. But I also know I have to choose to find ways to free myself so that I can be what I am supposed to be. This is a universal emotion. We all have times where we have to have courage and take difficult steps to fly out and make our dreams come true.”
In the sacred cave, the protagonist, with help from those around her, is freeing herself from negative thoughts, while understanding that she will bare responsibilities as she takes literal flight into her future.
