The lock floats in a deep, negative space. It begs to be opened, the dial already resting on zero. The silver lock itself feels almost real.
Pink tones at the top of the casing are intended to make the viewer think about the human heart, while, the bottom of the casing is a more physical blood red that seems to creep into the black surrounding it.
Experiencing unrequited love, offered to someone whose heart is locked to you can be simultaneously devastating and intoxicating.
"I find this piece to be deeply satisfying," Bryce says. "This means different things to different people when they stand in front of it. Whatever your interpretation is, that's what it's supposed to be. You know exactly who that locked heart is emblematic of for you."
